Flashing Basics: Protect Roofing Panels from Scratches

When working the metal roofing panels into the valleys, the bottoms of the panels slide into the valley flashing and are hemmed with a mallet.

But this can scratch the panels before the roof is even finished.

Ben’s solution is to slip a scrap of starter panel between the valley and the roofing to protect it from scratches and whacks.

This way, the new roof still looks new after you finish it.
